Privacy Policy

This page explains what happens to information when you visit this website or contact me through it. It describes only what the site does today. If that changes, I will update this page.

Who runs this website

This is a personal portfolio website run by Bibek Acharya, a BCA student at SRM University Sikkim, India. You can reach me at acharyabibek59@gmail.com.

What this website does and does not do

  • It is a static website. It has no user accounts, no login and no database.
  • It does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
  • It does not set cookies.
  • It does not load third-party scripts, fonts, maps or embedded media.

Information you send me through the contact form

The contact form does not send anything to a server. When you press the button, your browser opens your own email app with a message addressed to me, filled in with the name, email address and message you typed. Nothing is sent until you send that email yourself.

If you send me an email, I receive whatever you put in it, together with the technical details your email provider adds, such as your email address. I use this only to read and reply to your message. I do not sell it or share it with anyone else.

Please do not send passwords, bank details or other sensitive personal information through the form or by email.

Information stored on your device

If you choose a language using the language menu, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage, using the name portfolio-language, so the site opens in the same language next time. This stays on your device. I do not receive it. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Information handled by the hosting provider

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like most web hosts, the hosting provider may log technical details about visits, such as IP addresses and the pages requested. I do not have access to a visitor list from the hosting provider. How the provider handles that data is explained in GitHub's privacy statement.

Links to other websites

This website may link to other websites, such as my code repositories. Those sites have their own privacy policies and I am not responsible for how they handle your information.

Why I use your information

I use the information you send me only to reply to you. You provide it voluntarily when you choose to contact me. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

How long I keep your messages

I keep messages only as long as I need them to reply and follow up on the conversation. After that I delete them from my email account, unless I have to keep them to meet a legal obligation.

Security

This website does not store information about visitors. Messages you send me are kept in my email account, and I take reasonable steps to protect that account. No online method is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information.

Where your information is processed

My email provider and GitHub Pages process information on servers that may be located outside India.

Children

This website is not aimed at children. If you are under 18, please do not send me personal information unless a parent or guardian knows about it and agrees.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information I hold about you;
  • ask me to correct or complete it;
  • ask me to erase it;
  • withdraw your consent, where I rely on it; and
  • raise a grievance with me about how I handle your information.

To use any of these rights, email me at the address below with the subject "Privacy request". I may need to confirm your identity before I act. If you are not satisfied with my response, you can make a complaint to the Data Protection Board of India. You can read the Act on the website of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Changes to this policy

If I change how the website works, I will update this page and the date at the top.
